Saturday Night Reception There is a fun evening planned for Saturday evening when everyone can mingle with the stars. Everyone will be there so don’t miss it!! The event will include a finger buffet, a private bar, music and dancing and maybe an odd surprise. Many people ask about the Convention dress code for the Saturday night get together. Well from experience I can say there really isn’t a formal dress code. But many people opt to dress in smart western fashion or smart casual. If you want to be more formal then I don’t think they will mind. Just don’t turn up looking like you just did 3 months in the widerness living in the wild……. Get the idea!! Anyway they let me in and if they are okay with my outfits then you have no worries!! Tickets for this are limited and cost $50 per person. If you want to be sure of securing a ticket it is advisible to pre-register. You can do this on the Festival’s Website Registration Page - here is a handy link: Flashback Film And TV Registration
Jan’s Festival Tips A few years ago Jan Peddicord put together some useful practical tips for festival goers, These tip remain as helpful today as they were when Jan first did them so I have summarised below what she said. The convention area where the Festival is held, has vendors and celebrities all in one big room, with separate rooms set up to show old films and to hold celebrity public panels. The Festival program will list dates, times and rooms. NOW. . . Hello to everyone, especially the "Newbies" and first-time Festival attendees. . . Number 1 on the list: Have fun! It can be a bit (more than a bit) overwhelming to meet Robert Fuller for the first time. He is awesome and totally a sweetheart. Just the best!!! But you are meeting Jess Harper or Kelly Brackett or Cooper Smith for the first time. Words may fail you. Rest assured you will not be the first or last person to whom that happens. Be sure to bring a camera and make sure the battery is charged or bring a second one. Check your camera card has room for more than 10 photos (ask me how I know this). Some smart phones have excellent cameras built-in and you can manage with that too. Bring cash for photos and other souvenirs or memorabilia. Robert charges $30 for an autographed photo. (And $5.00/each to sign fans' personal souvenirs.) While most stars are gracious and will pose for a candid shot taken with a fan's camera, some also charge for those. NOTE: The cost for Robert's photos may be different than stated. For the photos you purchase, or movie posters or lobby cards or other paper items, bring some of the plastic sleeves like we used in high school. Keeps a precious memory from getting wrinkled on the plane home. Also, bring along some pieces of cardboard or a stiff mailer to put all the photos in for transport. After my first festival, I carried photos of Robert and the other stars home in my hands. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. A hat, cowboy or otherwise, is probably an excellent idea as well. Anything with a western flavor is a treat. Bring a shoulder bag or tote to put all the little things you accumulate during the day. This frees your hands to take photos or hug Bob. Bring a bottle of water and maybe some snacks. I usually only eat breakfast and dinner during festivals because of all that is going on. There will be a party on Saturday night. Lots of people ask what to wear. Most any nice outfit is appropriate. It is a chance to wear western garb if you have it, but there will be a very wide variety of outfits, especially for the women. I have seen jeans, western shirts, swirly western skirts, suits with skirts or slacks, boots or high heels, and even some long evening gowns. And jewelry, lots of silver and turquoise. If someone looks familiar, go up and introduce yourself. Many of us will have on Robert Fuller Fandom buttons and we should have name tags as well. Robert's fans are friendly and we don't usually bite. Maybe snarl or bare our teeth, but rarely do more than nibble. . DO NOT SUFFER IN SILENCE!!!!! I simply cannot emphasize this enough! Find someone with an RF Fandom button or some other indication of knowing that fabulous Jess Harper, Cooper Smith, Kelly Brackett, etc. and introduce yourself!! Hope you all find that helpful, lots of practical advice which will help you have a more enjoyable experience
