He launched as an extra in this Howard Hawks directed comedy starring Cary Grant, Ginger Rogers and Marilyn Monroe.Synopsis: A chemist, who is conducting experiments on monkeys to create an elixir of youth, falls into trouble when one of the monkeys escapes and mixes different chemicals, and his wife accidentally drinks it.

Above And Beyond is the story of Col Paul Tibbets Jr who was the pilot who dropped the bomb on Hiroshima during WW2.Robert was an extra in the film and can be seen in the photo on the left.

Come Back Little Sheba is a drama starring Burt Lancaster. Robert is an extra playing a young man dancing in a cafe.
San Antone was Robert’s first appearance in a western movie. He enjoyed a little more screen time and in at one time he was centre stage. The movie starred Rod Cameron who later worked with Robert as a guest star in Laramie.
Battle Circus was set during the Korean war and in fact was made while the war was still happening. Starring Humphrey Bogart as surgeon Jed Webbe who falls in love with Lt Ruth McGara. Robert was drafted shortly after making this film and was actually sent to serve in Korea.
