The Harder They Fall

The Harder They Fall is a hard hitting movie with 2 titan stars in
Humphrey Bogart and Rod Steiger. It tells the story of an out of work
reporter, played by Humphrey Bogart, who helps a corrupt boxing
promoter, played by Rod Steiger. Bogart is hired to help to “big up”
Steiger’s new star who actually has no talent and has all his fights fixed.
Robert appears in a crowd scene at a boxing match.
Strange Intruder

Strange Intruder stars Edmund Purdom as a former POW in Korea, who escapes and
returns home to America to fulfill a promise made to his dying friend - to kill his
friend’s children.
Robert has the role of a soldier held in the POW Camp, giving an early glimpse into the

A film about the final stages of WW2, Attack is a powerful movie with an equally
powerful cast. Starring Jack Palance, Eddie Albert, Lee Marvin, Richard Jaeckel,
Buddy Ebsen and Strother Martin, the story revolves around an American military
unit where two of its officers to turn against their captain due following his cowardly
behaviour. Robert was an extra in this movie.
Ten Commandments
Release Date: 5th October 1956
Role: Extra
Ten Commandments was an epic Cecil B DeMille production starring Charlton
Heston. The film also starred Yul Brynner who Robert worked with 10 years later
in Return Of The Seven. Another young actor who appeared in this movie and
later went on to tv western stardom was Cheyenne’s Clint Walker.
Friendly Persuasion

Friendly Persuasion was a very significan film in Robert’s career. This was
actually’s Robert’s very first movie where he had dialogue. Famously, he was
given his very first speaking part, due to the fact that William Wyler was looking
at extras to find a young man to play a soldier who has one line in the film. He
was impressed by the fact Robert’s sideburns were real and so looked authentic.
In addition to this John Smith, Robert’s Laramie co-star featured in the movie
and was the first time they actually had a close up shot together (watch the
church scene).
The Unguarded Moment
Release Date: 27th December 1956

The Unguarded Moment was yet another extra role for Robert in a movie full of
experienced big names including Esther Williams, George Nader and John Saxon.
It is a thriller about a teacher being threatened by a student who may be linked to the
murder of another woman. No one takes it seriously except a detective investigating
the murder.
The Delicate Delinquent
Release Date: 6th June 1957
Role: Stunts
Robert returned to the role of stuntman in this Jerry Lewis comedy, also Lewis’
first movie following his split with Dean Martin. The story revovles around Lewis’s
character Sydney L. Pythias, who arrested by mistake, and then given the chance to
reform, by a cop who believes he can be saved if he joins the police force.
Robert doubles Lweis in the movie.
