Alcoa Premiere
Alcoa Premiere (also known as Premiere), was presented by legendary Fred Astaire was a weekly American anthology series that aired from October 1961 to July 1963 on ABC. Each episode showcased a new stand alone story with a variety of top line stars such as James Stewart, John Wayne, Charlton Heston, James Whitmore, Maureen O'Sullivan, Arthur Kennedy and Ray Milland, and directors such as John Ford. During a break from Laramie Robert was asked to star in the Alcoa Premier Series Episode “Hour Of The Bath” which was the story about a village in South Vietnam living in the shadow of the Vietcong, who are heading for the village to get medical aid for their wounded. Robert plays Henry Detweiler who is an American agriculturalist sent to help the villagers develop better farming methods. Alcoa Premiere was nominated for 14 Emmy Awards during its two-year run.
Wagon Train
The year was 1963 and following 4 very successful years in Laramie Robert moved immediately into Wagon Train, one of the most successful tv western series ever made. Destry
In 1964 Robert played his Wagon Train character Cooper Smith in a trailer to launch a new western series called “Destry”. The series starred John Gavin as Destry and while Robert did play in the promotional trailer he never actually appeared in the series. We are trying to find this rare footage so you can see it.

Kraft Suspense Theatre

American Sportsman
Air Date: February 27th 1966 Role: Self
Robert was a guest on American Sportsman and spent time hunting white tailed deer and wild turkey on the YO Ranch in south west Texas. Along with Bob hunting White tailed deer is guide Bob Snow. Bob also guides Robert when hunting wild turkey, and they are joined by Robert’s close friend Carl Mills. While the turkey hunt is on foot, Robert’s riding skills are put to the test for real as he and Bob Snow chase the white tailed deer.
