“The Oregon Trail” has a rather strange story. 13 episodes and a pilot movie were made but NBC cancelled the show after only the pilot and 6 episodes were shown. The remaining episodes were only shown in the UK on BBC2, so the “Air Date” we have here is for UK only. Being on “The Oregon Trail” gave Robert a chance to work with some old friends as his episode was directed by John Champion who was the director on “Laramie”. Plus Terry Wilson (Bill Hawks in Wagon Train) was the supervisor on the series

In this made for TV Movie Robert was part of an amazing cast, including William Shatner, Raymond Burr, Lloyd Bridges, E.G. Marshall, Yvette Mimieux, Pat Hingle and Paul L Smith as the blackhearted villain. Robert played the part of Matt Leigh who was a passenger on the doomed coastliner. Mat was a cad, a rogue with an eye for the ladies, but he did have redeeming qualities as when he tried to ensure the safety of a lady passenger instead of taking care of himself. Great film, great part.
