9 years after the run of Dan August ended on 8th April 1971, and to capitalize on Burt Reynolds’ popularity in the movies ABC and Quinn Martin Productions put together 7 feature length Dan August movies. These were in fact produced by editing 2 episodes of Dan August into a feature length film. Robert appeared in the feature length movie “The Trouble With Women” which was a compilation of his Dan August episode “The Titan” and another episode “Epitaph For A Swinger”

“Jake’s Way” was a pilot for a new series which would have seen Robert in what was effectively a modern day western. It was a great show with an exciting story and excellent cast including Slim Pickens and guest stars Andrew Duggan and Ken Farmer. Robert played Jake Rudd who was a Fox County Sheriff, just outside San Antonio, Texas. Jake is on the hunt for the people who killed his friend, a lawyer who was about to disclose some important and incriminating information. It was a great Robert Fuller vehicle - fast paced and full of action. Despite that “Jake’s Way” was not picked up - but we still have this fabulous pilot to enjoy.

Fishing Fever
Air date: 1982 to 1983 Role: Self
“Fishing Fever” was really a dream show for Robert who has been a very keen fisherman and hunter all his life. Now he was being paid, as host of the show, to fish!! The show was filmed in the Caribbean, mostly in the Bahamas - already what’s not to love about that. In addition to the location Robert had many close friends as guests on his boat. He had, Patrick Wayne, Doug McClure, Dan Haggerty, James Caan, Lee Merriweather, Lynda Day George, Christopher George, Steve Forrest and Richard Anderson to name but a few. The fishing was not for the faint hearted. They were after big stuff with guests catching some impressive fish. Lynda Day George got a 145 pound tarpon and Lee Merriweather a 90 pound wahoo. Robert himself caught a 450 pound hammerhead shark and a 250 pound blue marlin. To top it all it was all done on a beautiful 53ft Hatteras. “Fishing Fever” wanted to break the mould of previous fishing shows, so their format was that in each show they would fish for a specific type of fish. They would include wonderful scenery and underwater filming plus there were the relaxing moments when they would talk about the movie industry and other topical subjects. This was a fun show which was educational at the same time and well worth a watch.
